Embracing Open Inquiry: Navigating the Landscapes of Classroom Discourse by Dr. Leila Brammer

The Doyle Engaging Difference Program is pleased to welcome Dr. Leila Brammer, the inaugural director and current director of outreach and instructional development for the Parrhesia Program for Public Discourse at the University of Chicago, as the Doyle Symposium keynote speaker. Her talk "Embracing Open Inquiry: Navigating the Landscapes of Classroom Discourse" marks the beginning of what promises to be a series full of insightful and inspiring discussions under the banner of a new area of focus for the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS) at Georgetown University. Lunch will be served.At CNDLS, the commitment to fostering open inquiry and respectful dialogue has led to the introduction of the Productive Tensions: Dialogue, Inquiry, and Academic Expression in the Classroom initiative. This talk is part of a new initiative that seeks to explore the critical issues surrounding academic freedom and expression, including what it means to read complex and challenging material while creating respectful and constructive discussions in the classroom.
