What is Blackboard?

Blackboard is Georgetown’s soon-to-be-retired course management system (CMS). A Blackboard course site is a space on this web-based platform for course-related content and activities.

What can I do with Blackboard?

Like other learning management systems, Blackboard allows instructors to organize and share course content with students, collect and grade student submissions, create and administer quizzes and tests, and facilitate student engagement via activities like discussions.

What is the status of Blackboard at GU?

Fall 2019 is the final semester Blackboard will be available to Georgetown faculty. Beginning with the Fall 2018 semester, courses will be created automatically only in Canvas, and Blackboard course sites will be provisioned by request only.
